Scottish mountain terminology is mainly derived from Gaelic. Here are few common terms which are used on maps. 

Glen = Valley

Ben = Mountain

Anoch = Ridge

Bealach = Pass or col (french)

Carn = Hill  

Cairn = Pile of stones

Eas = Waterfall

Dubh = Dark (as in color of rock)

Garbh = Rough

A', An = The (used in names of peaks)

Bidean = Peak 

Gaoithe = Wind

 

And some modern differences. 

Hillwalking = Hiking

Path = Trail
